International Students: Contract cheating and plagiarism

Contract cheating is a serious form of academic dishonesty and is classed as collusion. It consists of what are known as outsourcing behaviours. Contract cheating occurs when one person completes academic work (e.g., assignment, exam, paper, test, quiz, exam) for another who then submits it for academic credit. It extends to essay mills, homework completion services and impersonators for exams and even course work. This behaviour undermines the quality and integrity of your course qualification, and it undermines the entire educational system. The risks associated with contract cheating are not worth it and are much worse than failing an assignment.  Say NO to contract cheating

Referencing is an important part of any academic course. It ensures that your lecturer is able to assess the quality of your resources. It also gives credit to the original author for the work they have done. There are two parts to referencing; in text referencing and the reference list. In text referencing occurs within the body of your work whenever you have directly quoted from, or used ideas from (paraphrased), another work. The reference list comes at the end of the work and lists all references used in alphabetical order.

To use the work of another author without correct referencing is called plagiarism.

ACPE uses the American Psychological Association (APA) referencing style for all academic works.

It enables creators to manage how their content is used." Copyright Agency. Under Division 4 of Part IVA of the Copyright Act 1968, the educational licence allows all educational institutions in Australia to copy and share third party copyright text, images and print music provided that they agree to pay a fee for that use; and it is for the educational purposes of the organisation.  You are allowed to copy:

• Up to 10% or one chapter (whichever greater) from a print or electronic work  
• Images in their entirety (images from physical sources must usually be surrounded by text)
• An entire text work if it is part of an anthology and provided it is no longer than 15 pages long
• One whole article from any newspaper, journal or periodical - or more than one if on the same subject
• Entire work, if not separately published or available for purchase

This does not cover  films, TV, radio or YouTube. ACPE's Screenrights licence covers this.
